I saw right through facebook, myspace, etc. right from the beginning. I said it would ruin the way humans interact and drive people apart. Watch the video in the article. Very interesting perspective. Long but worth a listen.
That was very interesting. A man with a plan and honest with himself to boot. Now I'm going back to Face Book to see how many likes I've gotten. :-)
But seriously, I think he hit the nail on the head when he said social media can be used for good or bad. It's why China-and other totalitarians- are deathly afraid of the internet. Information leads to freedom, freedom leads to change, and the change is that the "Masters" are no longer the masters.
It's up to each person to separate the wheat from the chaff.
That is true. It's all in what you make of it. It's almost like social media has become the point of reference for our democracy. That is where everyone looks to gauge the sentiment of the country. The problem with it is, there are a LOT of people that aren't on it, and I would venture a guess that most of them lean conservative and/or libertarian. I know quite a few folks that are not on Facebook, Twitter, etc. They are ALL on the political right. I think this is why the news media was so blindsided by Trump's win. There's a lot of folks in this country they just plain never will be in contact with, and most are conservatives.
Perhaps more of us DO need to be on social media. At least maybe our voices will be heard. The way the world works anymore seems to be if you're not on Facebook, you don't matter.
I never thought of it like that. I orininally got on Facespace when Buick had a game similar to Jeapordy where you could win a car.
I got back on in order to know what to bring to a once a month shoot.
I have expanded to groups I'm iin to see if I can learns something.
I post because I have -or make- the time to dig a little deeper about things that interest me and if a few of my "friends" are inspired to think a little more, that's great!
Did you happen to see this story? It was buried a bit deep on one of the local snooze medias' website.

Dueling statistics... Looks like the same political struggle being played out in many cities. Police trying to do their job in cleaning up the streets and the "progressives" trying to stand in their way. That said, I do not agree with sting operations like that. It is a manipulative form on entrapment. You can't jail someone for trying to steal and distribute something that does not exist. Sure you can get them for breaking and entering, because they DID do that. Look at the failed suicide bomber in NYC. They're having a hard time with bringing severe charges against him because he didn't manage to kill anyone. The best they've got is attempted murder. Which means one day he'll walk free. Pity he didn't take himself out. Now we have to give him 3 hots and a cot for the next few decades. Using the logic of the sting operation folks, this attempted bomber should get the death penalty for a murder he failed to commit.
That article was correct to quote Mark Twain: "There are three kinds of lies. Lies, damned lies, and statistics."
