I liked the podcast episode 13. Rex is right on about the skills learned being a deterrent against tyranny. Skills, however, are not enough. So often I hear people say, "that won't happen in my neighborhood". Well, guess what? It absolutely can happen...and so many otherwise good people will lack the morale courage to stand up and stand together. Everyone in a community may have the same values when it comes to looking out for each other, but historically have lacked the courage when it comes time to stand together. The opposition counts on that. The opposition DOES stand together and goes door to door, one family at a time. It happens all over this Earth, every day. God forbid, if the day ever comes, it will be too late by then to figure out how to organize and help each other out. One of the things I've admired about Rex and the crew for years is that they encourage people to share and teach shooting skills. My friends and I encourage as many people as we can to learn these skills too. Not so much for the SHTF scenario as much as for life in general in my neck of the woods. We're big into hunting around here. Extended range hunting means more meat in the freezer. It's a great way to get everyone in a group to shoot and get good together. If / when the SHTF, the skill, the critical thinking, and the courage to stand together is already there from years of practice and dedication. One of the emails that was read on the podcast mentioned having a hard time to find people to go shooting with. Perhaps talking with your friends and finding a more immediate need for practical application of the skills could get more people together, more often. Find some hunting buddies that want to knock down sheep at 1000 yards. :) Good hunting everyone and keep your powder dry!
