Where do you shoot?

For those of you who saw my rant about the troubles at my gun club, here's a shot from the air as seen by my BallisticsArc app. The archery area is to the left of the club house. Just above the club house is the trap range. Then the 100m, 70m-which had slipped my mind, the 500, 300, and Cowboy Town. There is a covered area which can be used as a picnic area at the Cowboy Town.

Not bad for $110(?) to join, then $85.00/year thereafter. Even if dues go up by fifty percent, it's still danged cheap.

That looks like a pretty good range, aside from the soap opera aspect! Is there no open land you can go shoot without having to worry about people and dues? I guess it looks like the trees are pretty thick there, that would make it really hard to get out very far.

The closest places that I know of are both a four hour drive from me. Plenty of farmland around, but I don't know any farmers. :-(

Yeah four hours is way too far, and would probably cost more than 85 bucks a trip when all is said and done.

I either drive 30 miles to a nice little range with 1, 2, 3, and 500yd berms and a pistol area, or just go in the desert a little closer to home. The desert is hard though, because the brush can easily destroy tires, and it takes a lot of walking and work to set up targets, and it starts getting hot by the time i'm done prepping and ready to shoot.

But no politics in the desert, right? I'm going to shoot at Thunder Valley in Ohio eventually. I've been invited by a couple of folks, but I want to have my schtuff together at 500 first. They have steel and paper. Steel out to a mile. They also just started doing PRS.

A public 100 yard range 10 minutes from my home is where I do most of my test loads. Safety is a little bit of problem there.

My coworker / friend has land we shoot on out to 450 yards but it's over 1 hour drive. I make a day of that trip.

Recently became aware of a 1000 yard Range 30 miles from my home. Shot there one time. They have lots of skeet shooting, several pistol ranges, 300 yard range and the 1000 yard Range.

Also several fishing ponds.

You can pay for a single trip or join for a year and everybody in your house has excess

To the club. It's not cheap. $400.00 year

    Rex's Back Surgery

Rex, you mentioned that you had back surgery. What type of surgery was it and was it successful? I may have L5-S1 fusion, so I was curious about your situation. Thanks,
