I, as an american, believe that our constitution was divenly inspired. I believe that the Bill of Rights are unalienable rights given to us by our creator. My understanding of the hebrew translation of the sixth commamdment was thou shall not murder, verses kill. My understanding at the time of my savior Jesus Christ that if you where to travel between towns by yourself you ran the chance of being preyed upon by bandits. So the Disciples and others carried swords to defend themselves only at one time did Jesus call out the Twelve to take nothing for their journey. I believe this was done to show that god will protect and provide for them on this quest. At the time of Jesus arrest on the mount of olives Simon Peter drew a sword and lopped off the ear of the high priests servant. This action was not the will of the holy spirit, as Jesus role was to be led like a lamb to slaughter. So my take on it is that the Disciples carried arms to defend themselves againist other who would harm them physically and that they practiced it enough to have a skill set to be able to swing a sword and cut off a persons ear, as a show of force. I can say this because an unskilled swordmans would have completed the arc of the swinging sword to hit something vital in ones neck. Jesus then healed the preists ear. I am asking for your guidance of following Gods law. From my scriptual research am i wrong? I conceal carry everyday, tho i dont habor any intent of ever using this right unless my life, or my families is under obvious and undeniable threat. I am just aware of the predators that lurk in this world who will forcefully act upon me. I enjoy the podcast immensly i love how you incorparate god into it. Which is exactly what i need to do and hear everyday thanks

Self defense is not "living by the sword" as far as I can tell. I would call armed robbery, mugging, and general armed robbery for your subsistence to be "living by the sword".
I'm sure you might have seen it, but here is the video Rex made that touches on this subject.
Thank you. I have not seen this particular video.
