Poor guy trying to get into long range. My rifle is a Tikka T3x CTR in 6.5 creed. I was wondering what would be the optimal scope for shooting out to 1000 meters for around $1000. The guy at the shop suggested the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x50. Everyone I know loves vortex but after reading posts on here and listening to rex apparently they arent that great. So what would be my best option? Thanks for any and all help.

The $1000 price point for precision rifle scopes is a tough one, not many good options. I would look at the SWFA SS line for anything sub $1000. Once you get into the $1500 price range, lots more reputable options become available.
FWIW: I had a Viper PST SFP Gen 1 for a few years, and never had any real problems with it, except that the image would darken and become very poor as it got past 30 MOA of adjustment.
I sold it to buy a Steiner T5Xi. If I was going to do it over again, I would have gotten a fixed power SS to start with until I saved enough money move up into the next tier.
Go to snipers hide and look at the optics PX. You can find a us optics sb-10 all day for a grand.
