This is my first forte into building a long distance competition rifle . I want to build a 1 mile , maybe 2 mile competition rifle (and be able to set it up so i can transfer the scope from rifle to rifle) - I have a 300 weatherby magnum i use for hunting, but I thinking the 338 lapua is the best choice for getting into long distance competitive shooting ?
I want to do it once and do it right (within reason of costs/vs quality parts) as i accumulate and buy the parts i need.
I would really appreciate the communities vast knowledge and advice on where to buy quality precision parts
without breaking the bank too much (hopefully).
I am think i spend the bulk of my budget on the barrel and action?
To save money maybe i can buy some used parts ?
I am thinking of making my own composite stock or buying a 3D printer and 3D scanner and printing out a stock ( I am thinking these 3D printers could be a good investment too as many parts etc can be priced these days) ? I was very impressed watching how far these printers have come:
All and any help would be very appreciated .
