I am looking to get a budget friendly night vision/thermal optic to put on my suppressed .22LR trainer. We seem to have a night time critter problem on our property, I’d like to see what is roaming around out there and dispatch of any unwanted creatures. Shots are probably going to be inside of 100 yards in most cases. I would like to stay under $700. In the future I may pick up a cheaper .223/5.56 AR to put it on just to keep the optic married to a frame.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Rex has a few budget friendly reviews out there starting with the Armasight WWZ 4x setup. One option I am seriously consodering is the ATN X Sight ll. It seems to have decent reviews from other Youtube channels.
I welcome any positive input. Thank you in advance.
I thought this forum would be a bit more engaging. I guess not. I made my decision and ended up going with both a Thermal and a Night Vision Scope. After talking to several people I highly respect in the shooting world this seemed like the logical path with in the constraints and scope of work I’m trying to accomplish
With the holiday sales from Optics Planet I couldn’t say no. I picked up the Leupold LTO Tracker for spotting. The thermals appear to hold the advantage of being able to quickly find a critter or heat source. The Night Vision setups seem to be the way to go for getting a positive ID. I ended up getting the Armasight Vapire 3X optic. It’s a Tier 1+ unit that has the resolution and reputation of beating most Tier 2 products. Being built by FLIR was a good boost of confidence for me. The reliability and durability should be up there with this unit. I can update you guys and gals if anyone is interested going forward. I also settled on leaving this setup on one of AR uppers, I need to find a new barrel in .300 Blackout and she should be ready to go.
