Hello all! I am close to purchasing an optic for my rifle (Tikka CTR 6.5cm with MPA chassis) I would like to use this rifle for general long range shooting (up to ~1000m) and potentially some PRS competition.
Optic selection is my last step to completing this rifle and I would like some input from the community between these two options. They essentially have the same features, same pricing (~$1,300) and are probably made in the same factory. The Bushnell seems to have more popularity but the Primary Arms has been tested and vetted by the Rex. For this type of use and purpose, which would be the "better" choice?
Potential third option: Save up to a Schmidt and Bender 5-25x56 P4 fine Double turn turrets for $2400? Or an IOR 6-24x56 (if i can find one) or basically any other similarly priced optics like this?
Thanks
Without a doubt go with the S&B if you dont mind waiting. That being said the Bushnell is a hell of scope for the price. I had the DMR II and worked it hard, never came off zero, and never broke. Granted I didn't jump on it but still the thing is built well. The only thing I didn't like was how thick the reticle is.
Plus you could get a new/used one for like $1,000
Alright thanks for the input. I was heavy considering that route but wanted some additional justification in going that direction. However, at the $2400 mark there's a lot of competition, is the S&B still the clear choice with all the current offerings?
In my book I think the S&B probably has the best glass in that $2400 range but the best scope for the money is a used Premier Haritage or a Tangent Theta. I think they have better reticles and their MTC turrets blow S&B's out of the water.
Ok so I just off my spanky new bushnell dmr2i to find a kahles 624i. The bushy turrets are EXTREMELY mushy and I still 0 confidence in me personally. The kahles turrets are amazing as well as the glass quality. I’ve heard the tracking is great as well, but I haven’t vetted mine yet. A used one can be had in the $2200 range. I would give it some consideration. I think it’s a great choice.
