Anyone have any experience with these? How did it preform mechanically and how was the glass? I like the idea of having the windage on the left side and the parallax around the elevation.

No personal experience but one of the ones I am considering too...there is a fairly good deal on one now. I would probably get it but need to wait about a month for financial reasons:

Moman,
If you missed Delicatessen's post on Kahles scopes, check it out. Took a workshop on using precision optics this past weekend and one of the instructors who's big time into long range shooting put the exact model you're asking about on his custom 338 Lapua Magnum. Sweet scope, but a bit beyond my means and no where close to take advantage of that caliber.
Geoff, I saw that. Just not much out there on them. I am in the $3k on a new scope and looking at this one, the S&B 5-25, the IOR RECON, or the Steiner. I don't have the opportunity to get behind any of these to see firsthand before buying.
Moman. I had the same problem. No place close to compare different brands. In my case, I just decided to go with the IOR 3.5-18x50 ffp, based on Rex's fondness for IOR and the recommendation of Paul McCoy. The other instructor at the workshop has the same scope as I, and advised the other students to look through our scopes to see what tier one glass looks like. ;-)
If I were in the market, I'm thinking either the Kahles or the Recon. But I'm probably turning into an IOR fanboy and would go with the Recon. :-D!
Let us know what wind up picking and how you like it.
One thing that is holding me back on the RECON is the 40mm rings. I want steel rings and not aluminum. The only steel rings i can find for them are quick detach and don't want that style.
I was almost certain it came with steel rings. The Iors are kinda hard to find lately at least the recon or crusader.. basically the final ones I am considering is ior 40mm, kahles or minox zp. Minox is newer but same people used to make premier and same basic foundation though not the same scope as tangent theta. All around the same price range can get better deal on minox other than the demo kahles, then kahles, then Ior in terms of prices I can find.
I am almost certain they are aluminum, but again not positive. I have only found one pair of 40mm steel rings and IOR does make them but they are quick detach.
I know they are aluminum but spuhr and American rifle company make very good rings available in 40mm too if you end up needing new rings. The arc I know are 7075 which is very strong...not all aluminum is treated right but when done correctly it can take a lot of abuse.
saw you post on the Minox, didn't know anything about them but look very good. i like the features they have
Yeah have yet to see in person but a couple people I trust have said they track consistently and have as good or better glass than anything they have seen...trying to verify as it is newer but based on more proven designs. The caveat is I think this only really applies to the zp5 line not the ze etc.
This was done with a Kahles mounted on a .338 lapua at 3200 yds. Not sure of the scope model because it wasn't my gun. We were shooting 267 gr solid brass bullets. In the pic you can see that even the .338 starts to lose it zing at 3200 yds. One of those bullets hit sideways. My thoughts are...if you can hit a 30 inch target at 3200 yds then it must be a good scope. Glass was very clear.
Whoever was shooting those are quite the shots....I will be ecstatic when I can reach about half that distance
There was quite a bit of trial and error and quite a few misses but the Kahles did its job at a very long range. It wasn't hot out so there was no merage but at just short of 2 miles I would say it was miraculous that you could see the target clearly. Like I said it was not my gun or scope so I can't attest to the durability of the scope. What I can say is they are accurate and very clear. The smaller marks on that target are 6.5 creedmoor at 1200 yds also equipped with a Kahles scope and there was no trial and error on the shorter shots. The scope was dead on.
So i have narrowed down my selection to these three: Kahles K624I with the SKMR3 reticle / Minox ZP5 Tac with the MR4 reticle / US Optics B25 with the GEN II XR reticle. I am leaning towards the Kahles, but very interested in the Minox and the USO but haven't heard anything on the USO at all and the Minox is new with hardley anything on it.
MOman,
It's been a bit since you first posted. What was your final decision and how is it working out? Fess up, man! Inquiring minds want to know!
Geoff,
So my top end long range build has been put on hold. Found out got another kid on the way so i am doing a cheaper build on the ruger american ranch in 300 BO and the SWFA 10x. I am going to try to get that out to 600 meters. Should be fun. When i get back at the more expensive build again my scope selection now has been changed to the following: all in Mills
Nightforce ATACR F1 5-25x56
Kahles K624i
IOR Raider 3-25×50
Schmidt & Bender 5-25x56
The Tanget Theta TT525p has everything i want except the price point. Not sure if the added features benefit the higher price.
MOman,
My condolences and congratulations both! Whatever you do, don't name the child after any of those scopes! Cool names for dogs and scopes, not so much for kids, I'm thinkin'! ;-)
Kahles K624i is an excellent device with a long-range and without keeping it warm, it can work hourly. I am a invention lover and to know about the new inventions bestessays.com review is always helpful for me with its great essays on the technology.
