Rex, I orinally posted this question to "Custom Build - 2,000+ yds Precision Rifle" and wanted to ask for your opinion. I am getting ready to start a custom build on a 338 Lapua Mag for long range. I am currently looking at going with a Defiance Action, a Bartlein barrel (although what would your thoughts on a Proof Barrel be?), JEA 700 stock... and I was set on a Jewell HVR, until I saw your Huber 2 Stage Trigger review (great review BTW!). But I am really curious about what your thoughts are on the 7mm-300 WM vs. the 338 Lapua Mag on the effective external and internal ballistics for hard target interditions out to 1500m+ on these two rifles. I know you are a huge proponent for the 338 Lapua Mag, which is why I have looked at it as a serious build. I am currently running a 300 WM that has been completely modifed, but am wanting something with a bit longer reach, and is harder hitting past 1500m. Your thoughts? What is your personal preference? I have looked for ballistic data on this cartridge but am not finding much. I am curious on what the SS range for the 7mm-300WM is and the Energy ft lbs out past 1500m is? ....Your opinion to how it stacks up with the 338 Lapua Mag as far as a Long Range Duty Rig. Show less

Also check out the 28 Nosler! My guess would be they are somewhat comparable in terms of external ballistics... The 7mm300 will definitely be an overbore issue I would say, meaning the barrel will be exposed to much more throat erosion due to the smaller diameter tube. The 338 will probably last longer in terms of barrel life, while also providing much more terminal performance at longer ranges if long range hunting is a must. I would think the 7mm cartridges actually are closer to 338 ballistics than 30 cal cartridges are, due to the higher BC and down range performance. I have a 7mm Rem Mag, but If i had to step it up, id probably do a 28 nosler..... or just make the jump right to the 338 Lapua!

This is a healthy comparison but both things have their own value which you can't replace. But as assignment writing service said you have to be more clear about what you want and why because that's important.
Rex I'm fixing to purchase a 7mm-300wm from ULR. I'm needing bullet velocities energies trajectoires of some of the higher ballistic coefficients bullets for use out to a mile or 1760 yds. I realize it's a 2000 to 2300 yd round in ULR's 7mm-300wm Mirage, but rifle will be used inside of a mile most of the time. Another thing what scope would you recommend.
