I have a pretty fancy target rifle I built over the last couple of years, but it weighs upwards of 21 pounds. (a 30" heavy palma stainless barrel is half of that weight) I am thinking of building a rifle based on the M24 concept of having a short action cartridge in a long action rifle as a "fighting" rifle. ya know, something I can practice a lot with and also be my go-to SHTF rifle. I have three options for this and I need some feedback. My prospective cartridge is the .260 rem. eventually I will have two of these rifles, one for me and the wife so price is sort of a thing.
option 1: go with savage, since all of my rifle "building" experience is with them.
option 2: go with a factory rem 700 LA action and put the rifle together from there.
option 3: buy a custom blueprinted and trued action, and put the rifle together from there.
I guess my question is based around the experience of the readers of this post. I really haven't messed with Remington actions. I have heard horror stories of guys buying SPS donor actions and achieving groups no smaller than two inches @100. Is it worth the doubling/tripling in price for a blueprinted and trued action for what I need out of it? Is the factory Remington action beyond saving with quality load development and a good chunky barrel? I'm willing to work with whatever.
Hybrid has some heat pump on it this used to get power among some partitions to read over he qualities or have on it. I need to make power on it that was to write my research papers this has to submit over the college or it was assigned by the teachers of mine.
