I just watched Rex's Custom Build 7mm-300WM video. He said that the rifle is built on a Remington 700 long action. I looked at the PMAC website, and none of their standard build options are built on a factory action. Is Rex referring to a 700 pattern action, or a factory Remington action?
I'm asking because I'm researching for my first long range rifle, and I've been thinking of the Savage 110 LRH in 300WM. Lately I've been considering if I want to iteratively upgrade the rifle, I should maybe go with the Remington 700 Long Range, for the ease of finding 700 compatible parts. But on the other hand I was thinking that to truly build a high quality rifle I would be replacing all of the parts of the base rifle, including the action, so I might as well go with the Savage. Then I could get my legs with the Savage and build a custom rifle when I'm ready, and the Savage is a little worn out.
But after watching the video, I'm wondering if Rex built this custom gun on a factory Remington action, which would mean I could iteratively upgrade a 700 and retain the factory action all the way through?
