Rifle: Savage 110 BA stealth
Caliber: 300 Win Mag
Barrel length: 24"
Scope: SWFA 10X MIL/MIL
Bullet: Hornady 220 eldx .650
Little bit of a rant to start, savage needs to step up the quality control prcocess on outgoing rifles. The scope base screws had zero loctite on them. I have since fixed the problem.
Yesterday I got out to the range and did some ladder testing of the 220gr Hornady ELD-X with 5 shot . The loads are 70,71,72,73,73.5[max], 74.1 and 74.5.
The loads below 7 had dismal results. The hotter the load the better it liked it. During loading for the ladder test we loaded the 74.1 as a result in the powder scales and measure not wanting to goto exactly to 74.0. That's the exact load it liked. More loads to be tested. The 74.5 load was too over pressure , the bolt handle was slightly hard to lift. Stopped firing those loads immediately after 1st round.
