Hey guys, not a huge AR15 fan or aficionado but I recently got an Andersons AM15 M4 style rifle and I have to say it hurts. Which is funny as my 308 after 200 rounds is fine and my Win mag after 40 was cool. Just getting the rifle with the Primary Arms 5X ACSS Prism scope into shooting position while standing or on the bench leaves just the point of tha hard butt stock on my upper Pecan and after short while it hurts.
So far yeah I would rather shoot my Remington M700 Long Range in 300 Winchester Magnum than my 5.56....
Saw a MFT Minimalist stock with slightly bent toe that is more rounded. Anyone try these and what are your thoughts?
Haven't tried the MFT stock myself. My Olympic M4 came with the same stock that you have. It was annoying to shoot with it. That tiny stock is not comfortable in regular clothes because it is intended to be used when wearing lots of gear (armor, plate carrier, flak jacket, etc). In that application it works well because the toe of the short buttplate won't rest on the upper edge of your armor/flak jacket and still fit the pocket of your shoulder. In my case, I went with the Magpul CTR stock and have been very happy with it.
I have two of the MFT minimalist stocks. I find them very comfy. What I really like, is that they don't have the play that other stocks do. They sit very nice, and I usually shoulder them pretty high. I even have one on an AK and it doesn't hurt either. Id say its the best stock for the money. Rob at AKOU did pullups on it so you dont have to worry about it breaking either haha!
I have a magpul ACS and its good too, but its heavy and costs twice as much.
Id try the MFT, and if its still kicking a bit hard after that, look at muzzle devices and a spikes T2 buffer.
Well guys thanks for the input. Yesterday i bought the MFT Minimalist and WOW! what a difference. Shot my hand loads of 75gr BTHP on 24gr of Varget. Full 150 rounds later no discomfort at all. Sweet. Shot her out to 300 on a gong and I like it a lot!
